Analogous to the Milan Cathedral

The Spheres in the DC Map

We have seen that the elements that were emphasized in the cathedral plan were those on the vertical axis of the tree. The 5 points indicated by the rectangle in the hexagon, and the earth (at the bottom), of course, go un-noticed. The soaring heights of the interior of the building were designed to draw the eye upward, and to emphasize the "falling of the light", from the dome above. These two movements represent the twin aspects of Alchemy, spirtiualizing the material, and materializing the spiritual (solve et coagula). [Similar to synthesis and analysis.]

In the DC map, the Capitol dome serves the same function, though it is not within the tree layout proper, there; and it is a secular building.

In the map, it is similar, but with a couple of exceptions. Spheres 2, 3, 4 and 5 (red, above right) are marked by intersections; by Logan Circle, Dupont Circle, Mt Vernon Square, and Washington Circle. That's three circles and a square for number four.

The eighth sphere, associated with Mercury who holds the cadeusus, symbol of the medical profession, is marked by the Navy Medical and Surgical Center. Number seven, associated with Venus, who rules Libra, as in books and library, is marked by the National Archives Building located at 700 Pennsylvania Avenue. Clever, eh?

The rest are down the center. Beginning at the top, we see the House of the Temple, home of the Southern Jourisdiction of the Scotish Rites Masons, which faces west onto 16th Street. The next one down, is Scott Circle located where the diagonals of the pentagon cross. (Note that pentagon diagonals do not cross at the center of that figure.) At the center of the tree is the White House, followed by the Washington Monument, and the Jefferson Memorial at the bottom.

I repeat, for those who may have missed it; the top of the tree depicted in the Washington DC map, is marked by the home of the Southern Jourisdiction of the Scottish Rites Masons. As a matter of fact, the same person, John Russel Pope, designed the National Archives (7), the Jefferson Memorial (10) as well as the House of the Temple (1).

You will recall that the thesis of the Canon, is that the philosophical notions underlying the building secrets were ideas taken from the ancient mystery religions, which were passed to cabalists who represented their world view by the graphic image called the Tree of Life. Looking at former SR Commander Henry Clausen's "Commentaries on Morals and Dogma", we see:

"Our teachings and symbols preceed our formal organization by thousands of years. We reveal truly the wisdom of the Lesser and Greater Mysteries and their symbols of words and phrases.

Our House of the Temple in Washington, an awe inspiring monumental structure, is the nerve center of our organization.

To me, the Scottish Rites can be likened to a tree of sparkling symbolic jewels, surmounted by a Blazing Star of Truth that displays the dazzling splendor of the Mystic Doctrine of the Universe, and the reflected glory of the Deity."

The DC map can also be likened to a tree of jewels surmounted by the HOT. If you have any doubts about the conection to the Cabala, you can read about the 28th degree, in the text, where he states:

"This is a Kabbalistic and Hermetic Degree of the greatest antiquity, dealing with the primal matter of all things (alchemy). It teaches a doctrine on natural religion as part of the mystery. In accordance with the philosophical approach, there are seven stations representing the planets that anciently explained the passage of souls betwen heaven and earth."

Looking at the original text from "Morals and Dogma" we see, "Masonry is a search for light. That search leads us directly to the Kabalah. In that ancient philosophy, the Initiate will find the source of many doctrines. All truly dogmatic religions have issued from it and return to it." And as the Canon notes the "Kabalah" is derived from the doctines of the Ancient Mystery Religions. Note that the language of issuing from and returning to is pure "Kabalah".

We have shown, so far, that the figure on which the cathedral was based was much more than a rhombus, or even the Star of David, because both of those fit on the tree figure, which in encompassed by Metatron's Cube, which wraps around the dodecahedron. We have also shown, that the "old" building art has not completely died out, that it continues to be demostrated on a large scale in Washington, D.C., by who else, the Scottish Rites Masons, who are explicitly Cabalistic.
