Facing the Future

Updates from September 2, 2009

I anticipate another set of quakes as the moon passes Jupiter and Neptune again on about Sept 3rd which will be the next full moon. See May 17, June 14, July 11, Aug 7 above, for other quakes as the moon passes Jupiter and Neptune.

  • Sept 2: 7.0r quake in Indonesia and 6.2r quake in New Zealand.
  • Sept 3: 6.2r quake Kyushu, Japan.

The 7.0 quake occurred after the moon opposed Venus and before it conjoined Jupiter this time (see above). See Sept 30 below.

  • This month, if you watch the morning sky you can see Mars then Venus rise before the sun. See this video showing the movement of the moon for the first half of September and notice how all the planets are within three axes. The moon passed Mars on the 12th . I expected relative calm earthquake wise until the 12th.

Sept 12: A 6.4r earthquake has struck off the coast of Venezuela knocking out power in the capital and sending people rushing into the streets.
Sept 13: 4.9r quake in the Gulf of California.
Sept 14: Fred's remains are moving toward an area where the winds aloft are weaker and the waters are warmer. So, there is some chance for Fred to regenerate over the next few days.

  • Venus was opposite to Jupiter and Neptune when the moon arrived on the 16th . After having passed Mars and Pluto on the 12th, in the next two days, the moon passed all the others by conjunction or by opposition. On the 16th the moon opposed Jupiter, conjoined Venus and opposed Neptune.

Sept 16: Super Typhoon Choi-wan strengthened enough since Tuesday (15th) to become the strongest tropical cyclone of 2009 thus far. The eye of Choi-wan was, at the time, located over open water about 380 miles south of Iwo Jima and 430 miles north of Guam with sustained winds of 160 mph. In China, one person was missing after Typhoon Koppu hit the southern coast yesterday, bringing strong winds and heavy rain, the official China Daily newspaper said.
Sept 17: 5.9r quake Easter Island. Flooding Threatens South US Through Sunday - Flooding will inundate more homes, businesses and streets across the Deep South through the weekend. The same, slow-moving storm that drenched Texas last weekend is the culprit. An end to the relentless heavy rainfall may not come until next week.

  • At the new moon September 18th, Mercury was between the earth and the sun at the same time. Also, the sun, moon and Mercury conjoined Saturn, as the earth passed between Saturn and Uranus.

Jack Coles, in a forum on Jim Berkland's site, mentions more cluster main signals from Indonesia to Japan, warning that SEPTEMBER 16TH - 18TH, 2009 COULD BE CRITICAL. Sunnygal is 'guessing Philippines, or Taiwan'.

Sept 18: What is being called a Strong earthquake rattles Indonesia (5.8r). Also a 6.0r quake Mindoro, Philippines. After becoming the only CAT 5 storm so far in 2009 on Thursday (17), Typhoon Choi-wan is no longer classified as a "super" typhoon, although it remains a very large and powerful storm.
Sept 19: A 4.9r quake in Calexico is the largest quake to hit southern California this year so far. The 4.9r quake on August 7th was the largest quake in northern California so far in 2009. There was also a 4.9r quake in the Gulf of California on Sept 13th. The next largest southern California quake was on March 24th, following the vernal equinox.
Strong earthquake hits western China - The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-5.4 quake struck at 4:54 p.m. Saturday in the region bordering Sichuan and Gansu provinces.

In 2009, Jupiter passes (conjoins) Neptune, and Saturn opposes Uranus. On September 18th, the earth crosses the line between Saturn and Uranus as they achieve their opposition. The earth crosses the line connecting these two at a New Moon, so the sun is also in that line. The moon is on the same side of the earth as the Sun and Saturn. The earth is on the Uranus side of the Sun.

If that weren't enough, Mercury passes between us and the Sun at the same time!!!

    September 18, 2009

Here we see a sun centered (heliocentric) view of the planets for the day that Saturn is directly across the sun from Uranus. (Pinch that guy that giggled.) You will note that Jupiter and Neptune are witin 3 seconds of each other. (A second is 1/60, of 1/60th of a degree.) We will have Uranus to our back, and in front of us will be the Moon, Mercury, the Sun and Saturn within the width of your hand ASFE (as seen from earth) . Here is the geocentric picture of that, and here is an animation of the geocentric view for the first half of September.

  • On September 19th we see a quake that is being reported as 4.9 or 5.1r. That would make it the largest California quake so far in 2009. The next largest southern California quake occurred March 24 folowing the vernal eqinox. The next largest northern California quake occurred Aug 7th.

  • Mercury conjoins the sun early on Sept 20th and the Equinox is on the 22nd. On the 20th Mercury passes in front of the sun and the equinox is the 22nd. There was a 6.1r in Bhutan on the 21st, a 6.0r in the Macquarie Island on the 23rd, and a 6.4r off the coast of Jalisco, Mexico on the 24th.

Sept 21: 6.1r quake Bhutan. At least 6 people have died as continuing rain floods the Southeast US. More rainstorms are expected to sweep across already flooded areas of Georgia, Tennessee and western North Carolina.
Sept 22: Very heavy rains exceeding fifteen inches have soaked the Atlanta, Georgia region over the past two days, triggering widespread major flooding. Record flood levels have been observed on seven rivers and creeks in the Atlanta area, breaking records that had been set as long ago as 1919. (This is the proverbial 100-year flood.) In one case, the new flood record (for Utoy Creek near Atlanta), was more that ten feet above the previous record, with the creek still rising. The Chattahoochee River was one of the rivers that rose to record levels, and flood waters from the Chattahoochee crested over the I-285 bridge in western Atlanta, forcing closure of the expressway. At least seven people have been killed, according to ajc.com, with at least six people still missing.
Sept 23: 6.0r quake Macquarie Island region. The worst dust storm since the 1940s swept through eastern Australia today, and Sydney recorded its highest levels of particulate air pollution ever. The dust storm resulted from strong winds associated with a powerful low pressure system that swept through eastern Australia this morning.
Sept 24: 6.3r quake off the coast of JALISCO, MEXICO.
Sept 27: Philippines hit by worst floods in 40 years - Tropical storm Ketsana dumped more than a month's worth of rain in just 12 hours, fueling the worst flooding to hit the country in more than 40 years. At least 140 people died, and 32 are missing.

The moon will conjoin Pluto and oppose Mars on the 25th and 26th.

The moon passed Jupiter and Neptune on the 29th and 30th. There was an 8.0r on the 29th and a 7.6r on the 30th.

Below is the chart for October 2nd. The moon is full on the fourth of October.

  • 6.6r in Sumatra on the first. 6.1r in Tonga on the second. 6.1r in Taiwan on the third. 6.6r in the Philipennes on the fourth. Also, Typhoon Parma knocked down trees and power lines in northern Philippines after veering further away from Manila and surrounding provinces, parts of which are still flooded a week after they were hit by Tropical Storm Ketsana. We now have Typhoon Melor in the mix. Snow Piling Up from Oregon to Dakotas through Monday.

  • Oct 7th: 6.7r quake Celebes Sea. 7.8r Vanuatu Islands,7.7r Santa Cruz islands, 7.3r Vanuatu Islands. The quakes happened as Mercury conjoined Saturn. I had not expected more quakes until the moon passed Mars on the 11th, and when it passes Saturn, Venus and Mercury on the 16th before the new moon on the 17th. I am still expecting quakes then.

Remember that this cluster of quake activity began with a California earthquake at the last new moon. The next peak was when the moon conjoined Jupiter on the 29th, an 8.0r quake.

  • The 'wetness' will be with us for one more month before it tapers off. I don't expect any more tropical activity after the new moon in October. As the next tidal peak will be the end of January, I suggest that chances are good for a snow storm during the Winter Olympics in February.

Next year Jupiter conjoins Uranus, after conjoining Neptune this year.
