The House of the Temple

A door in the House of the Temple.

Note the foursquare window pattern
and the stone of foundation.

The west face of the HOT.

Window from Manitoba Legislative Bldg.

Skylight from Manitoba Legislative Bldg.

Note the foursquare windows in the HOT.

One enters the HOT from the west, looking east.

Ten columns define a 9x9 grid.
Subtracting the outside space leaves a building of a 7x7 grid.

Sphinx align with this outside space and the flag poles.

Three main vertical axes.
Central horizontal axis above the door.

Two small circles center on sphinx axes.
A large circle to that width fixes the height of a 4x4 square.

Adding diagonals we get this. Remember that the letter
delta or daleth signifies 'door', presumably of a tent.

A three by three grid.

Entering in the west, one approaches the light in the east.
Compare to the layout of the Chartres Cathedral.

Note the arch and keystone being depicted.

The Royal Arch Degree is the thirteenth Scottish Rites degree. The number 13 derives from the nine arches in the Enoch legend plus the four directions. The nine arches, or arcs are the earth and the heavens plus the seven classical planets. Washington and his friends were Royal Arch Masons, so the 13 symbolism that we see in early US history derived from that.
