Conclusions
It appears that the planners took the double cube, and reduced it to
75% of it's height, producing images that mirror the pyramid silhouette.
The tree/cube image was depicted between Capitol Street (0) and 32nd
Street in Georgetown, centered on 16th Street.
Scott Circle lies on 16th Street, on the rectangle, at the top of the
hexagon, at the center of the red pentagram, while the White House lies at
the corner of the cube where 3 faces come together. The center of the
eastern half of the image portrays the corner that is opposite to the WH.
The point on the central axis here, on the rectangle, at the bottom of the
hexagon, and at the center of the blue pentagram, is the counter part of
Scott Circle on the back side. This is where we find Lincoln Square.
It also appears that the east half of the double cube was subsequently
reduced again to 75% of it's width, which returns it to it's original
aspect ratio. Doing this causes the distances between the axes on the east
side of the city to differ from those on the west side. Lincoln Square, to
the east of the Capitol Building falls on the center line of the eastern
half of the double cube.
This image shows Penn Ave in blue (remember that the CB was placed
north of the position indicated here) and Potomac Ave in red. The red line
west of the CB is the mall, and is directed toward the Washington
Monument.
Overlaying the image of the pyramid cross-section on this adjusted
double cube shows Pennsylvania Avenue coinciding closely with the
Ascending Passage, while Potomac Avenue coincides more closely with the
Desending Passage. In addition the peak of the relieving stones above the
King's Chamber falls at the top of the hexagon on the left, and the center
of the hexagon falls inside the King's Chamber.
The Capitol lies near the point where the passage to the Queen's
Chamber splits off from the Ascending Passage, at the bottom of the Grand
Gallery. The central axis of the eastern half of the image points to the
Acsending Passage where it meets the Descending Passage.
The Queen's Chamber is offset in two directions; it is to the right of
the KC, which I contend is represented by the White House in the map, and
it is stepped down from the bottom of the Grand Gallery, the position of
the Capitol in the map. In a similar manner the Washington Monument is
located east (right looking north) of the WH, and south of (a step down
from) the E-W axis running through the CB.
